The Mamiya RZ67 is a medium format film SLR introduced by the Mamiya Camera Co. Ltd in 1982. It is the successor to the earlier, fully mechanical, Mamiya RB67. The RZ67 features an electronically controlled shutter which ranges from 8 seconds to 1/400th of a second, and a bulb setting. The RZ67 uses Mamiya-Sekor Z lenses electronically, or can use Z lenses at 1/400th of a second and earlier mechanical lenses with its mechanical backup mode.
Known Issues
Electronic Shutter Failure
Causes
- Failure of Mechanism
- Dirty Contacts between lens and body, film back and body, internal contacts, darkslide contacts
- Capacitor Leakage/Failure
Solutions
- Move shutter button to mechanical backup mode, ensure mechanical operation. If failed, lubricate/replace failed mechanical parts
- Clean Contacts, check darkslide is removed or R-M switch is in the M mode
- Replace 2 main capacitors on the mainboard
Disassembly Notes
Camera contains small screws and sensitive parts. Gloves are recommended to keep fingerprints off of reflex mirror and focusing screen. Avoid touching the mirror and focusing screen surfaces. Remove batteries, lens, film back, and viewfinder while performing repairs. Exercise care when handling flexible circuit boards.
