Talk:Capacitor Series

After filling in so many different example of capacitors here I think that this could probably benefit from a template to structure this data in a more readable format. There are a few key things that should be noted about each series of caps to help know if they are interoperable and aid in identification. I would like to add pictures of each cap series as well and have started capturing some of these to be added later. This will also help with identification of unknown series by looking at related parts. I'll work on a template for this after finishing up a few more projects so I can get a feel for how this information should be laid out.

How do I upload a datasheet?

I long ago downloaded from somewhere the datasheet for the Sacon SZ series. They were terrible capacitors, so people could use the specs when choosing replacements. I can't find the datasheet online anymore, so I thought I would preserve it here. How would I upload that so that it can be accessed from the article? Thanks.Jimbo (talk) 22:10, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

To keep Caps Wiki DMCA clean we cannot host datasheets here. You can put them up on archive.org and link to the here for sure though!

Rubycon CE W

Negative stripe visible on cap.

I was looking at the talk page for the new Mario Bros. (TMA1) and they mentioned replacements and the Rubycon CE W series caps. I went to double check if we had a recommended replacement series and saw that it had been marked as non-polar based on a badcaps forum thread. The caps pictured on the Mario Bros. (TMA1) PCB all have negative line markings as well as the CE W on my Super Nintendo Entertainment System .

I have removed the non-polar description based on the information we have available here. I would not be surprised though if "CE W" is not actually a series and is a grade and there are both polar and non-polar capacitors marked with that and nothing else. If this proves to be the case I think we should amend this page with a "Not a Series" section to help clear that up in the future.

I believe the "CE" just stands for "Capacitor Electrolytic". Certain capacitors of this era don't seem to have series designations. Andrewsawesome (talk) 18:20, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
