The Roland MC-303 is a music composition device designed more for live performances than studio use. It uses a mix of digital buttons, a rotatory encoder, and analog potentiometers for the interface.

Known Issues

Damaged Potentiometers

Causes

  • The volume and control potentiometers are commonly damaged and can become internally loose

Solutions

  • You may get lucky and be able to bend the fingers back or possibly glue the case back together on the potentiometer
  • Replace bad potentiometers

Disassembly Notes

Be careful of the ribbon cables when removing PCBs. These use a crimping style connector that clamps down onto the individual wires that stick out of the end of the ribbon cable. It can be easy to tear or bend these.
