The only electrolytic capacitors in the Osborne seem to be in the power supply.
Known Issues
C18 & C19 might be the first to fail. They've been replaced on one of the two I have for reference.
The AC8151 is found in the original revision of the Osborne 1.
Disassembly Notes
Warning: It's high voltage, unplug it.
On the original Osborne 1, where the clips are on the sides of the keyboard:
- Remove the brightness and contrast knobs. This requires a small Allen key or very small flat head screwdriver.
- Remove 7 screws from the front panel, and pull the panel towards you to remove it.
- Remove screws from the sides, below the floppy drives.
- At the back, remove 6 screws from the panel around the power cord, and 2 screws from around the handle.
- The case should pull free from the internals.
- Flip the machine upside down, so the bottom of the logic board is facing up. Unscrew 4 screws to remove the logic board.
- The power supply board is held on by 4 screws.
