Missing head shield
There is a metal shield that covers the upper read/write head. It is often missing as the adhesive deteriorates.
It is not required for operation, although it does add some weight to the head that is sometimes required. It can be replaced with something like a 5g or 10g washer.
Disassembly Notes
Comes apart easily with a few screws, although note that they are JIS standard heads, not Philips!
The PCB can be safely removed, it doesn't need aligning.
